Southernhay House
Exeter, Devon
Southernhay House is a bed & breakfast located in Exeter.
In 1805, Major General William KirkPatrick (the “Orientalist”) threw open the doors of his new town house in Southernhay, Exeter. Years of duty with The East India Company in Nepal, Tibet and China, five languages, two Indian children, a laudanum habit and a gentleman lover just a short carriage ride away gave Kirkpatrick a distinctive place on bohemian fringe of the Devon bourgeoisie.
Places to eat within 5km of Southernhay House include Byron Hamburgers, La Tasca, Cosy Club, and Cafe Rouge - Exeter.
