Allington is a village in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire five miles north-west of Grantham. In 1066 the time of the Norman conquest the name of the village was Adelinctune. Originally East and West Allington had their own churches but today only one church survives. The village pub is the Welby Arms on The Green. The Old Manor House built about 1660 is now a hotel. The Viking Way Sewstern Lane passed through the village until 1997, but was diverted to follow a roadbridge over the A1. The primary school is shared with Sedgebrook. Local dining options include The Welby Arms, Bistro Cafe, Restaurant At The Chequers Inn, and Harry's Place.
