Things to see and do, places to eat in Badshot Lea
Vienna ( Dining / Other ). Located at 112 West Street, Farnham, 2 miles from the center of Badshot Lea. The Vienna is an exceptional restaurant and wine bar. The Chef owns the restaurant and has done so since 1980, so in the continental tradition, the standards will remain high. It is situated in the heart of Farnham and is a traditional restaurant with first class service and a friendly atmosphere. Lunch here can be a pleasant addition to a day’s shopping or, in the evening perhaps, a celebration dinner for a special occasion.
The Alexandre ( Dining / Pubs / Bars ). The Alexandra (or the "Alex" as affectionately named by our customers) occupies an imposing late Victorian building conveniently situated on the corner of Barrack Road and Alexandra Road. The pub sits beside the site of the now demolished Alexandra theatre, allegedly where Charlie Chaplin performed his debut. The theatre was later converted into a cinema and continued screening shows until its final closure in the early 1970s. The building was unfortunately demolished in the mid 1980s yet rumour still has it that a projectionist employed in the cinema many years ago sadly took his own life. His spirit is believed to roam the area, including the Alex even now!
