The cottage is in a stunning location overlooking the river which makes for a lovely peaceful stay. The woodland is beautiful and secluded. The cottage is spacious, clean and has good facilities including a wood burning stove. It is eco-friendly with solar panels, a biomass boiler and high levels of insulation. The balcony has the most gorgeous views and the gardens around the cottage have fruit trees.

Positives: Peaceful, tranquil setting, views, wood burner, spacious kitchen to cook in or eat out in Wray only 5 minutes away. Within easy reach is Lancaster, the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. Lots of wildlife.

Negatives: Not for those wanting a lively holiday.

This place is fantastic - very unlike the usual identikit holiday cottage. The wall of windows looking out across the wooded gorge makes you feel like you are living in the tree-tops. It's full of character and would be a great place for a reunion of friends or family as it has loads of space. We felt really at home here just wished we had booked to stay longer so we could explore the countryside more.

Negatives: Layout of rooms a bit confusing, but OK once we got used to it.
