Places to stay in Bearsted, Kent
Bearsted is an ancient village in mid-Kent, three miles to the east of Maidstone. The original village site was on the north bank of the River Len, a tributary of the River Medway, and at the foot of the North Downs. The centre of Bearsted still retains its village look: at the opposite corners of the village green are two pubs: the White Horse and the Oak On The Green. The parish church is dedicated to the Holy Cross: on three corners of its tower are stone beasts. Many books on Kent describe the animals on the tower as bears, and say the name "Bearsted" is derived from them. There is a tennis club along with a bowls club as well as both a Scout Group and a Guide unit. Other establishments include a Rifle Club and a private members club (The Bearsted and Thurnham Club). Places to eat in the region include The White Horse, The Oak On The Green, Restaurant At The Black Horse Inn, and Newnham Court Inn.
The center of Bearsted ( which is at is longitude 0°34'46.425 and latitude 51°16'28.524 ) is located 2 miles away from Thurnham, 3 miles away from Leeds, 3 miles away from Maidstone and 3 miles away from Hollingbourne.
