This is not a 5 star hotel, and not suitable for the business traveler. Its location is convenient to the theater district, and is suitable for those needing a room for the night. Rooms are small, closets small. Internet connection an extra 19 British Pounds a night. The bar/lounge is positioned as a club, and only opened at 7 PM. Terrible service - no bartender at the bar; waitress went to kitchen bar service for drinks and it took forever. Loud industrial disco music - attempt to be trendy, but just annoying. Maybe okay for the 20 year olds, but to experienced travelers a joke. I would not stay here again, and would not recommend it.
Positives: Bellhops friendly and helpful.
Negatives: Over rated - too much flash, no substance.

Another post modern hotel. In about few years it will be very dated.
Positives: The friendliness of the front of house staff.
Negatives: Cost of breakfast was to high.

Loved the location with short walk to park, esplanade, National Portrait Gallery, theaters, etc. Restaurant open late & dinner superb--try signature calamari salad, raw tuna appetizer. Drinks expensive but interesting. Continental breakfast was excellent but expensive @ 17 GBP each. Because of nighttime scene, good for mixed-age groups i.e., our 30's couple & 60's couple. Rooms were clean but impractically modern, i.e, you couldn't fit a glass under the sink faucet, outlet for hairdryer in doorway, only shavers near sink, door to bath also door to closet/hallway area so complete privacy required negotiation. Would return because overall clean, very quiet & good location.
Positives: Liked the spartan/spacious feel as different. Liked the breakfast, dinner & staff at restaurant & hotel. Windows opened=good. Very quiet=great.
Negatives: High-style bathroom very impractical, reading lights insufficient, blinds did not work.

The hotel is a party hotel not appropriate for business travel. I was awakened in the early morning hours several mornings with late night partying as people returned to their rooms. Also, it's not set-up for quick check out. Very friendly and helpful staff, though. Good location.
Positives: The staff was very friendly--a real asset.
Negatives: The hotel is not fror business travel.

Although its trendy and fashionable. It doesn't make it unfriendly and a inefficient, which is often the case.
Positives: Amazing staff. Super helpful and personal service..
Negatives: Busy lobby.

Excellent location, especially for attending the theater and having easy access to the Tube. Many restaurants nearby and a very helpful concierge made this a great visit.
Positives: Great location, great views, unique atmosphere.
Negatives: Carpet was worn and stained in hallways and room.

Good location, friendly people, exceptionally small room. I don't think I would classify it as a 5 star hotel.
Positives: Concierge was very help full.
Negatives: Room was exceptionally small.

I did not like its pseudo trendiness. I will make it a policy to never stay at another Schagger hotel.
Positives: It was clean, centrally located, attentive staff
Negatives: Room extremely small, Given a handicapped room, no door on bathroom which was not private and noisey to next room

St. Martin's Lane Hotel was fun. It was a bit too hip for me and the TV were small. The in room amenities that could be purchased were way too expensive ($35.00 for a baseball cap) Phone calls to US were $7.00 per minute.Otherwise, the hotel served for location, modern conveniences, cleanliness and service.
Positives: Clean Modern Trendy Central
Negatives: Too Cool

Staff was extremely helpful & friendly, there was always someone to help you & always called you by name. rooms are some what small but very clean and interestingly decorated. beds are very comfortable. we liked the ultra modern decor. hotel was very nicely located for easy access to most major attractions. we would highly recommend this hotel. don't let the price deter this hotel is well worth the money.
Positives: location, within walking distance of most major attractions
Negatives: nothing

great hotel, excellent staff, perfect location and very clean. The hotel had no room for us and we were actually bumped from our room the first night, as the hotel had a group of guests who decided to stay an extra night. But, the manager was very friendly and helpful, and they provided accomodation at another hotel and upgraded our room for our inconvenience. They handled the situation well.
Positives: friendly staff, excellent location, could walk to lots of tourist attractions
Negatives: odd decor

The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of most major sites. The overall theme is Minimalistic but it is taken to the extreme, so although its visually pleasing it really is quite impractical.
Positives: Great Locations
Negatives: Rooms Extremely Small

Edgy and well-located, this boutique property is worth a try for a different kind of London experience.
Positives: Location, clean, crisp design.
Negatives: Room was rather small, TV also very tiny. Bed a little uncomfortable.

St Martin's Lane Hotel is located a few interesting blocks walk from Covent Garden Market, few blocks from the tube stop and surrounded by great restaurants in all price ranges and theaters, clubs, museums, and the opera. The staff is wonderful and the rooms clean and comfortable. We are very particular about hotels, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Positives: All staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the location was terrific, eveything we needed within easy walking distance, plus fun neighborhood
Negatives: Only one thing, bed not hard enough-would like a choice of at least some rooms with firmer mattress (did not inquire as to whether they have a bedboard.

This is a very funky place...you'll either really like it, or detest it. I found the location highly desirable...lots of nearby theatre and restaurants, close to the underground station, taxis right outside the door at all hours, and a terrific restaurant (Asia de cuba) in the hotel itself. I found the complete lack of natural light in hallways, elevators and the lobby bar a bit disconcerting and the lobby furniture is pretty trippy. My room was quite small, but comfortable nonetheless. They let me check in early, which was great after an international flight. Having wireless network access was convenient, but very pricey at about $30USD/24-hour period. All in all, the hotel was fine, but I certainly wouldn't call it a 5-star hotel.
Positives: The bed linens, bath towels and bath products were all superior.
Negatives: The hallways were very dark , the carpets stained and the lobby furniture wasn't comfortable.
