As part of the last stop on my honeymoon, my wife and I chose to stay at the day's inn Westminster auk on 80-86 Belgrade rd. London, England sw1v 2bj on June 4th & 5th, 2007. We had been to Iceland and Scotland without any problems and arrived at the day's inn at 11:15pm. We were given the keys to room 364 and took the elevator which dropped us off on the wrong floor even though we had hit the right button. Upon entering the room we noticed it had no resemblance to the pictures we saw on the expedient-days inn website. In fact, the room did not even match the pictures on the brochure from the days inn lobby. In addition, the room smelled and the shower door was broken making difficult to enter or get out of the shower. Since it was late we decided to stick it out and stay, however lying down to sleep we noticed several small insects in the bed with wings. I tried to catch one but they would leap and were impossible to catch. Whether they were bed-bugs or flew in from the screen fewer windows didn't really matter to us, we knew we had to leave for health reasons. In fact I had been in the bed for about 15 minutes and I sustained a bite above my ankle (see pick below). We packed up and went to the lobby for checkout around 12:15 am. The desk clerk smear was very enzymatic and said that we were getting what we paid for in a 3 star hotel. I said no hotel should contain insects and asked if smear would stay in a room with insects if he were on vacation with his family. Still, nothing seemed to get through and I was told no refund would be given so I had him call a cab and we left at 12:15am tired and disgruntled. No refund was given!
Positives: Nothing.
Negatives: Room quality, room smell, shower door broken, unfriendly staff.

The hotel is a rather standard one for economy London. The lift is shabby and the starts with a jerk, the corridors are narrow. The staff are friendly, though they could not change my room and I had to put up with the noise from an outside air duct from the kitchen. There was no lift to my room as it was for some reason between the 3rd and the 4th floors but I never travel with a lot of luggage so that was alright for me. Many pubs in the vicinity and a few grocery shops. I was able to buy mineral water and some fruits from them. People are very friendly, just as the hotel staff. The metro station is only 6 or 7 minutes away. No parking at all, but on a Sunday evening I was able to leave the car in the street free of charge until 8:00 am on Monday, which was fine for me. The hotel is in the so called congestion charge zone of central London, but no charge is due on a Sunday, so I had to pay just for Monday. The hotel from outside looks better than inside. The carpets inside were new still not well stretched. The furniture was not old at all. Even internet access was available from a single computer in the entrance hall, paid separately. All in all good value for money.
Positives: Low price. The window overlooked a brick wall but that was at least 3 yards away.
Negatives: Small room, noisy from an air duct outside, apparently from the kitchen.

Positives: Good quality accommodation with helpful staff and reasonably quiet.
Negatives: The single room was quite small but adequate. Bedroom rather cold (there was snow outside) but an extra blanket was provided in the room.

room and hotel fine, but the lack of eating facilities was a pain. the hotel was chosen specifically so I could get something to eat without leaving the hotel late at night.
Positives: nice clean room, brightly lit.
Negatives: restaurant closed and as I arrived at 8.30pm, no where to eat.no notice of closure either

Good location about ten minutes walk from Victoria Rail/Bus/Tube. Several nice restaurants and coffee shops plus Sainsbury market closeby. Rooms small, but are very clean and comfortable and my bed had a good mattress. Staff friendly. Has luggage room and airport pickupservice and Internet service for 1 pound per hour.
Positives: Good location. Close to tube, restaurants and attractions. Room and hotel all have key comfort and services which I value in a business stay.
Negatives: Small rooms and high prices (but this is typical for London hotels) Continental brakfast included in price. I spend less money and eat better at the coffee shops close to the hotel
