I am the new owner of the property and would like to respond to the review if I may?
I would point out that when the guest who made this review, I was not the owner. I became the owner some months afterwards.
The property is a 300 year old period property and as such, has low ceilings and beams, which are common in older houses.
The cottage is situated in the centre of town, which is great for pubs, bars, shops, restaurants, etc as a consequence of its great location however, parking can be an issue - if you wish to park outside the cottage, (a problem no doubt experienced by 1000's of terraced home owners), however there is always parking in the immediate vicinity.
The windows were ill-fitting and have been replaced, in addition, I have also installed secondary glazing in all rooms, keeping the heat in and any traffic noise out.
The décor has been changed slightly, but the cottage retains its period features and cottage 'feel'.
Chains have been added to the sink and bath plugs.And toiletries are now left for guests.
I would be thrilled if these former guests came back to see the changes for themselves.

Although the cottage looked beautiful the living experience was quite different, the kitchen oven didn't work and there was a lack of kitchen utensils for cooking on the microwave oven,
We found that the gas alarm kept on going off and we were unable to contact the owners for well over a day, they did reply on the Sunday after calling on Friday evening about the problem, there were no toiletries in the bathroom, which would normally be given for guests in a 4 star accommodation and there were no chains on the plugs of the sink and bath so it became very difficult to remove wastewater from the sink and bath.
Being situated on a hill and main road we were awakened in the night by the noise of traffic due to the ill fitting double glazed window frames. Although a dinning table was supplied in the small kitchen, it was not possible to use it as the size of the kitchen prevented 4 people sitting at it.
I think that the property is over priced for the stay in view of competition in the area

Positives: Comfortable bed, nicely decorated, tea and coffee was left on the kitchen table for use, close to town

Negatives: Problems as detailed above, difficulty parking, room hight restrictions, be where of your head,
