Our family runs a working smallholding on which the holiday cottages are located. Each cottage sleeps four people, and offers comfortable, self-catering accommodation within an area which is renowned for its spectacular scenery and a host of different activities to cater for all comers.

We are extremely fortunate to be situated in the Peak District of Derbyshire, an area renowned for its spectacular, often dramatic, scenery and outstanding natural beauty, as well as providing a wonderful recreational resource for all types of pursuits.

The Peak District consists of two regions:- the White Peak and the Dark Peak. Features of the White Peak include its beautiful, flower-rich limeStone Dales, such as DoveDale, Lathkill Dale,
Bradford Dale and the Manifold Valley, which were created at the end of the last Ice Age as the glaciers finally melted, and, in doing so, carved magnificent rock architecture, crags and pinnacles en route. Most of the White Peak Dales are narrow and intimate, and are threaded by footpaths and ancient tracks, so enticing the walker and avoiding road traffic, thus providing a safer and more enjoyable environment. Those with an interest in Geology may explore the harder limStones created on the edge of coral reefs, such as Chrome and Parkhouse Hills in the Manifold Valley and Bunster and Thorpe Cloud in DoveDale, which remain some of the real peaks which justify the name Peak District. Fossils abound in the network of dryStone walls which cover the area, and, on a grander scale where the limeStone has led to the creation of an underground world of caves and caverns which can be enjoyed by visitors in the show caves of Buxton, AshbourneAshbourne and Matlock. Unique to this area is a semi-precious gemStone called 'Blue John', examples of which can be purchased locally.

As well as Dales and crags, the plateau of the White Peak is a fascinating treasurehouse of ancient history, which was permanently settled by people as long as 5000 years ago. Remnants can still be seen of their presence, especially in the many burial grounds (known locally as 'lows) which are found on the highest points of the landscape, and other sacred sites such as Stone circles (Arbor Low, Stanton Moor and Eyam Moor). Coming a little more up-to-date visitors may go to see the Plague Village at Eyam, the great historic country houses at Chatsworth, Haddon and Hardwick,
and the traditional well-dressings which take place in many of the villages through the summer months.

For those who wish to remain firmly in the 21st century, a short drive away is Alton Towers, Britain's premier theme park, with its exciting and unique roller-coasters like 'Thirteen' and 'Nemesis' ( and another new one coming soon). You can explore the ghostly ruins of Alton Castle , enjoy a swim and spa at Splash Landings, or simply stroll through the magnificent gardens.

Should theme parks not be your idea of relaxation, you may enjoy a leisurely stroll around the nearby markets of Bakewell, Leek and Ashbourne and the historic spa-town of Buxton has many cultural delights to offer with its beautifully-restored Art Deco Opera House, Pavilion Gardens, Festivals and Antique Markets as well as fine dining and high-end shopping.

Nearby restaurants include Restaurant At Callow Hall, The Dining Room, Just B, and The Haddon Restaurant.
