Shalimar Guest House

We had booked a reasonably disabled room at the front of the bungalow which had been looked at by a friend who lives nearby in Burnham. This friend assured us the room he saw would be suitable for my wife and I we are both disabled, me more than my wife. The room was No 2 a twin bedded room.
When we arrived at SHALIMAR we were greeted by Mr fellows who led us down 2 corridors to room No 5. When I said this wasn't what we booked, his wife had by this time appeared and said she had let another couple have our room because the lady had a wheelchair, I use a Mobility Scooter myself.
When my wife and I said we were not happy about this Mrs Fellows said it was the only room she could give her or turn her away. We told Mr & Mrs Fellows we would only be staying
that night and we would be finding somewhere else the next day. The small room they gave us was like a dungeon. Outside the little window was a 6ft fence with bushes and a plum tree, even in day light hours you had to leave the lights on.
it was a small room with a double bed and a single bed which
didn't leave much space to move around There was no dressing table just a very small chest of draws with the tray of cups
tea, coffee & milks on and no shelves, a chair in the corner. A mirror on the wall by the bed.The single bed had a loose head board that banged everytime you moved. The wardrobe was a wooden frame with a bar across for hangers (plastic)and wooden slatts. The bathroom floor moved about underfoot and was slippy. The toilet was very low to the ground, room 2 had grab rails!!!and leaver taps.
At breakfast the following morning Mr Fellows did the waiting
and hovered over us while we ate it talking to us all the time. We had to ask for toast which Mr Fellows did in the dinning room and then carried the toast over to our table.
Mr Fellows said he wasn't happy that we weren't happy and that our £20 deposit would cover our one night stay. Mrs Fellows was clearly not happy with US and was very off hand. Positives: New small TV.  Negatives: Too many to list
